Antarctica

Antarctica is the only uninhabited land on our planet. Although the continent was first discovered in 1820, the name Antarctica was first named by the Ancient Greeks, who believed that since there was a land mass in the North that was known as Arctos, or “The Arctic”, than there must be a similar land mass on the opposite side of the earth. “Antarctica” was the name that they gave this land that had yet to be discovered.

Since there are no inhabitants there is also no government and Antarctic is the only land on the earth that has no national claims. It is the coldest place on the earth and during its winter there can be days without any sunlight.
